Small business funding help means getting matched to the right type of capital before you apply. Chris Poff reviews your situation, explains which options fit (SBA loans, bank loans, alternative lenders, grants or investors), and helps you prepare the plan and documents lenders in Florida expect.

What types of small business funding are available in Florida?

Small business funding is not a single path. Here are the main routes Florida owners use, and who each one tends to fit:

SBA loans (7(a), 504, microloans)

Government backed loans made by banks and lenders. Competitive terms, detailed application. Good for established businesses, acquisitions and real estate.

Bank loans and lines of credit

Often the lowest cost, but harder to get for new businesses with limited cash flow or credit history.

Alternative and online lenders

Faster decisions and looser requirements, usually at a higher cost. Useful for short term needs when the math still works.

Equipment financing

The equipment secures the loan, which can make approval easier.

Grants

Free money, but limited, competitive and usually tied to a specific purpose. See Florida small business grants.

Investors and partners

Capital in exchange for ownership or rewards, which fits some growth companies and not others.

Why do lenders turn down small business loan applications?

The funding plan that is perfect for a two year old tech startup is completely different from what a ten year old restaurant needs. Applications usually fail for predictable reasons:

  • Applying to the wrong type of lender for the business’s age, revenue or credit
  • No clear plan for how the money will be used and repaid
  • Messy or missing financial statements and tax returns
  • Personal credit issues that were not addressed first
  • Asking for too much, or too little, for the real need

Chris is not a lender and does not make credit decisions. His role is to help you understand the options, prepare well and avoid costly detours.

What do you need before applying for an SBA loan in Florida?

Most SBA lenders ask for a business plan, financial statements, personal and business tax returns, a debt schedule and a clear use of funds. Read the full breakdown in SBA loan requirements in Florida.

Can funding help me buy a business or real estate?

Yes. Acquisition loans and commercial real estate loans are common routes for Florida owners. If you are thinking about buying an existing company, see buying a business in Florida.

FAQ

Business Funding questions

Common questions from Florida owners before they get started.

More answers on the FAQ page, or call or text 407-908-8023.

How do I get a small business loan in Florida?

Start by knowing your numbers: revenue, credit score, time in business and exactly what the money is for. Then match that to the right lender type (bank, SBA lender, credit union or alternative lender) and prepare a plan and documents before you apply.

Can I get business funding for a new business with no revenue?

It is harder but possible. Options include SBA microloans, some SBA 7(a) loans with strong owner experience and equity, equipment financing, grants and personal or partner capital. Chris helps you see which are realistic for your situation.

Does Chris lend money or guarantee approval?

No. Chris is a consultant, not a lender, and no one can guarantee approval. He helps you choose the right options, prepare a strong application and connect with funding partners.

Are there small business grants in Florida?

Yes, but they are limited and competitive, and many target specific industries, locations or groups. Most owners combine grants with loans or owner funds. Our grants guide lists current programs to check.

How long does business funding take?

Online lenders can fund in days. Bank and SBA loans commonly take several weeks to a few months, depending on the loan and how complete your package is. Preparing ahead is the best way to shorten the wait.

What does a funding session with Chris cost?

The first business evaluation is free. Ongoing funding guidance usually fits within CEO on Call ($500 for up to 2 hours) or the 30 Day Launch Plan ($1,997) when you also need a full business plan.
